Good News

I finally got a Kindle!!!

That's one of the two gadgets that I've been lusting for since forever. Never mind that I got it 4 months after, the wait is definitely worth it! :)

Book Review 1

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Bu
tton
by F. Scott Fitzgerald

It's true that I only read the book because I got curious upon seeing the trailer. I've never seen the movie though so nothing was spoiled for me, but I think you don't really need to see the movie just to find out how this book will end. By simply reading the plot, you will be able to guess how this book will turn out. A very short story, you can actually finish it in one seating. It's about growing up and living your life no matter how different it may seem to be. Benjamin, I guess, is lucky because he got a second chance on living and he made the most of it.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Born This Way

The first time I heard this song, I was like, "This sounds like a Madonna rip-off! What's happening to you Lady G?" But then after hearing it a dozen more times and hearing Maria Aragon's acoustic version of it, I am taking back what I've said and gushing over Gaga again.

Enjoy the video!

Born This Way
Intro:
It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby

Verse:
My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars
She pulled my hand and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir
"There's nothin wrong with lovin who you are"
She said, "'cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

Chorus:
I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Post-chorus:
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby, I was born this way
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be a drag - just be a queen
Don't be!

Verse:
Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth
In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth
A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (hey hey hey)
I love my life I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (love needs faith)

Repeat chorus + post-chorus

Bridge:
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby you were born this way
No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave

Repeat chorus + post-chorus

Outro/refrain:
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!

Mashups

There's something about song mashups that I really love especially if it involves songs that I really like or songs that you would think won't go well together. Glee, for example, is a master of such mashups, like mixing songs of Rihanna’s with Gene Kelly (Umbrella & Singing in the rain) or Beyonce’s Halo and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & the Waves.
Another master of mashups is none other than DJ Earworm, whose annual “United States of Pop” series featuring the Top 25 songs of the year according to Billboard magazine, has become Internet sensations for the past years. He’s mashup for 2010 features the songs of Kesha, Lady Gaga, Usher and Katy Perry among others.

Here is DJ Earworm’s mashup for 2009, which for me is still the best. For videos of his mashups from previous years, just click the link below. Enjoy!
